About

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is India’s third-generation launch vehicle and the first Indian launch vehicle to be equipped with liquid stages. Since its first successful launch in October 1994, PSLV has become a reliable and versatile workhorse, completing 46 successful launches out of 48 by June 2019. It has launched 297 customer satellites from 33 countries into Low Earth Orbit, and also deployed satellites for communication, meteorology, navigation, scientific experiments, and space exploration missions. Notably, PSLV successfully launched Chandrayaan-1 in 2008 and the Mars Orbiter Spacecraft in 2013. NSIL plans to productionize PSLV stages through Indian Industries, with an industry consortium responsible for producing, assembling, and integrating the launch vehicle using existing ISRO facilities under a GOCO model.
