About

Launched in December 2023, Quasar Sense is a passive radio frequency (RF) intelligence system for space domain awareness (SDA), built on the same multibeam phased array technology as Quasar’s communications products. It was described at launch as the world’s first all-of-sky RF emitters interrogator, enabling defense and intelligence agencies to monitor the entire sky for satellite RF emissions without blind spots or time gaps.

Sense deploys more than 30 steerable beams from a single ground-based phased array antenna, enabling simultaneous tracking and characterization of over 30 satellites of interest in real time. The system continuously surveys the spectrum 24/7, building a 360-degree picture of all space-based RF activity in the antenna’s operating frequency band. Capabilities include RF signal identification and cataloguing, interference detection and localization (including jamming and spoofing events), spatial geolocation of transmitting objects, and behavioral analysis of satellites of interest across LEO, MEO, and GEO orbits.

The system integrates with existing RF intelligence databases and ground truth catalogs, enabling cross-referencing of detected signals with known satellite characteristics. Quasar Sense can also null identified interfering signals in applicable operational environments. Due to the sensitive nature of the technology, Quasar Sense is available exclusively to Five Eyes nations (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States) and Quad allies (India, Japan).
