About
The Rafael 5N Monopropellant Hydrazine Thruster is designed for satellite attitude control and orbit correction maneuvers. It produces steady-state thrust from 1.8 N at 5.5 bar to 6.1 N at 22 bar feed pressure. The thruster was originally designed and qualified for the OFEQ Israeli reconnaissance satellite program and subsequently selected for additional international programs.
The thruster uses a single-coil, dual-seat normally-closed solenoid-operated Flow Control Valve (FCV) with integral 15-micron absolute filtration. Three single heaters provide catalyst bed pre-heating for reliable ignition. The Thrust Chamber Assembly uses a 50:1 nozzle expansion ratio.
The thruster is completely ITAR-free, manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D quality standards with full space qualification testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, and lifetime endurance tests.
