The R-200 is a low-power Hall Effect Thruster designed to operate in the 100–300W discharge power range, suitable for low to medium mass satellite platforms under 500 kg. It produces thrust levels of 5–14 mN at a specific impulse of 800–1,300 s depending on the selected operating power.
To overcome low mass utilization efficiency issues common to low-power Hall thrusters, the R-200 incorporates a non-conventional configuration with co-axial anodes and an elongated discharge channel. The thruster uses a low-current heaterless hollow cathode, increasing lifetime, readiness time, and reliability while eliminating the need for a power-consuming heater supply.
The R-200 completed full qualification including proof-of-concept, experimental and numerical validation, wall material selection, performance mapping, shock and vibration, and a 75 kN·s (1,500-hour) endurance test. Compatible with both Xenon and Krypton propellants. Total available impulse exceeds 200 kN·s.
