The R-800 EPS is Rafael’s second-generation Electric Propulsion System following the flight-proven R-400 EPS (Venµs satellite). It operates in the 450–900W power range and consists of two R-800 Hall Effect Thrusters, a Power Processing Unit (PPU), a propellant tank, and a propellant feed system.

The system’s PPU achieves efficiency exceeding 92%, minimizing power losses. Typical mission applications include orbit keeping and drag compensation for LEO down to altitudes below 350 km, formation-flying of small satellites, accurate orbit insertion after separation from launcher, orbit change maneuvers, and disposal deorbit at end of life.

All system components are integrated and factory-tested by Rafael before delivery. The R-800 thruster recently completed its full qualification program including performance testing, shock and vibration, and endurance lifetime testing. Both Xenon and Krypton propellants are supported.
