About
The Redwire Coarse Sun Sensor (CSS) Pyramid Type is a radiation-hardened attitude sensor containing four magnetoresistive detectors in a pyramid bracket configuration. With a field of view exceeding 2π steradians and ±1° accuracy at null (±5° throughout the linear range), it is designed for solar array pointing, sun acquisition, and fail-safe recovery modes. The sensor requires no input power, producing 500–1,300 µA of peak output per detector. Custom baffles can be designed to tailor the FOV for stray-light rejection. Radiation-hardened to more than 100 krad (Si), compatible with other 2-, 6-, or 8-detector configurations.
