About
The LinkStar-STX3-PC104 is the engineering model of a space-version radio system, providing a platform for development and testing. It functions as a complete radio system for system monitoring and satellite tracking, supporting the CubeSat form factor and bus for easy integration into CubeSat stacks. This system can be used to beacon data from various locations on Earth and at altitudes up to 150,000 feet. The onboard modified BeagleBone Black can also manage and operate the test platform. The complete system includes the LinkStar-STX3-PC104 board, a modified BeagleBone Black, an Ada Fruit Ultimate GPS™, a radio antenna, a USB cord, and an AC power adapter for ground testing. The unit is FCC Part 25 certified (2ANKS-LINKSTAR-STX3) and Globalstar certified for use with SMA connected antennas up to 4.55 dB. It includes the QuickSAT/VMS web interface for radio system activation and development APIs to access the radio, record and transmit user-specific data, and access GPS. The system also features communicator software, a TW1500 Antenna, and an enclosure designed to IEC52, IP65, NEMA 1, 2, 4, 4x, 12, and 13 specifications, UL Listed to UL508-4x specifications, and made of UV stabilized polycarbonate with a UL94-V2 flammability rating. The development environment includes Debian Linux, QuickSAT/VMS, MySQL, Apache, PHPMYADMIN, Python, PHP, Javascript, HTML5, C, C++, and Bash. It has 4 GB of memory plus a microSD port, and various ports including I2C (2), USB, UARTS (3), GPIO (32), GND, and Analog In (7), 3.3V. APIs are available for STX3, GPS (NMEA) AdaFruit and NovAtel 6XX and 7XX series, Serial Communications, I2C, and BMP Sensor. Data can be viewed in the onboard database via QuickSAT/VMS, exported to CSV, Excel, SQL, PDF, and plotted with up to 4 numerical measurements including GPS data, with export options to PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG.
