About
Serenum, as part of the VZLU group, provides a complex set of design verification services to identify possible design flaws during spacecraft development by simulating launch vehicle, ground, and flight environmental loads, including space and upper-atmosphere conditions. Testing is required for all nanosatellite components as well as full spacecraft assemblies, to ensure the mission meets performance criteria and applicable CubeSat standards. Services include the design of custom test plans and procedures tailored to specific mission conditions, custom design and manufacture of test ground support equipment (GSE), and full environmental testing covering vibration and shock as well as thermal vacuum cycling, performed in ISO 6 and ISO 8 cleanroom environments available for satellite assembly and payload integration. Mechanical testing covers resonance search, quasistatic, sine, random, and shock test types, providing the full spectrum necessary for qualification, proto-flight, and acceptance testing of spacecraft. Climatic testing is performed in a thermal vacuum chamber that simulates space conditions of temperature and vacuum simultaneously, covering thermal vacuum cycling and thermal vacuum bake-out; the chamber measures 1000 x 1000 x 1000 mm with a tunnel extension of 10 m x 200 mm diameter available, supports parts up to 950 x 870 x 780 mm, reaches a vacuum below 10⁻³ Pa, and controls temperature from -60°C to +150°C at 0.1°C accuracy with a regulated ramp rate of 1°C/min, all within an ISO 6 cleanroom. The ISO 8 cleanroom measures 31.25 m² and the ISO 6 cleanroom measures 31.50 m², equivalent to FED STD 209E Class 100,000 and Class 1,000 respectively. Serenum’s references include Proba-3 qualification and acceptance testing of the ASPIICS Coronagraph Front Door Assembly flight model, SWARM qualification and acceptance testing of three microaccelerometer instrument flight units, JUICE concurrent design qualification of radiation shielding and a magnetometer arm exceeding 10 m in length, Euclid concurrent design qualification of mechanical elements, Ariane 6 structural testing of booster structural parts in cooperation with MT Aerospace, and FLPP CFD/flutter calculations and wind tunnel experiments on scaled composite aeroelastic models across subsonic, transonic, and supersonic regimes, alongside qualification and acceptance testing for numerous CubeSats and payloads.
