About

Serenum offers software bundles combining flight-proven flight software, an on-board computer, and satellite command tools into ready-to-integrate packages; every component is also available as a stand-alone product. The On-Board Computer and Flight Software bundle is a flight-proven, highly reliable combination designed for comfortable integration, adapting easily to mission-specific needs while performing platform housekeeping, payload control, and data handling. It includes the CubeSat Flight Software, an On-Board Computer, and the VCOM satellite development and command terminal for PC. The Flight Software provides a real-time operating system with modular architecture, a reliable transactional filesystem for non-volatile memory, CubeSat Space Protocol support for a wide range of platform components, a database-like storage system for telemetry and scientific data, prioritized/automated data download logic that can avoid corrupt data transfers via metadata analysis, a broadcasting component for external Ground Stations or the SatNOGS network, upload/download data compression and encryption, a mission scheduler triggered by UTC time, location, or specific events, a measurement cycler for telemetry, a multi-channel logging system with anti-spam filters, a fail-safe dual-bank bootloader for on-orbit software updates, a MicroPython interpreter for ad-hoc scripting, and a responsive terminal for development, testing, and in-orbit troubleshooting. The software is compatible with OBCs including Gomspace Nanomind A3200, Spacemanic Eddie, and Deep Thought, with integration to other third-party hardware possible. VCOM provides an interactive command-line terminal for communicating with the satellite or any subsystem, based on the CubeSat Space Protocol network stack, giving a unified interface for mission operations, subsystem development, and functional testing. Optional additions include a Python-based Testing Toolchain for inspecting CubeSat component functionality during development and pre-flight checks, and a Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) toolchain that loads builds into the engineering model, launches tests, and automates the software delivery process. A separate CubeSat Developer Bundle is aimed at teams building their first CubeSat: it provides a plug-and-play ecosystem, including a Flight Software emulator, VCOM binaries, and an OBC emulator that simulates all real OBC peripherals, letting teams pre-integrate payloads or components into a CubeSat-like software environment without investing in actual flight hardware.
