MT Aerospace’s Spacecraft Tank Centre operates a dedicated Design and Manufacturing facility for satellite propulsion tanks, catering to both chemical and electric propulsion systems. The product portfolio encompasses Monopropellant propulsion tanks (Positive Expulsion Device – PED) with EPDM-diaphragms, designed to prevent propellant sloshing and orient propellant effectively. Bipropellant propulsion tanks (Surface Tension Tanks) are manufactured for use with monomethylhydrazin (MMH) and nitrogen tetroxide (NTO), including MON1 or MON3 mixtures to prevent stress corrosion. Additionally, Electric Propulsion Tanks (EP) are primarily designed for xenon applications, and high-pressure vessels (HPVs) for helium or nitrogen usage. MT Aerospace maintains full design authority for EP tanks and HPVs, while PMD-tanks are manufactured “build-to-print” for major satellite primes. The company controls the entire supply chain, including liner welding, carbon fiber overwrapping with its own filament winding machines (COPV), and tank-testing equipment. MT Aerospace also invests in R&D for next-generation tanks, focusing on demisable tanks and green propellant applications.
