About
The XTE-LILT (Low Intensity Low Temperature) is a GaInP/GaAs/Ge lattice-matched triple-junction solar cell specifically engineered for deep space missions where solar intensity is greatly reduced and operating temperatures are extremely cold, such as at Jupiter (0.037 AM0 solar intensity) and beyond.
Achieving 37% efficiency at Jupiter LILT conditions — significantly higher than its 32% BOL efficiency at 1 AU — it provides exceptional power generation far from the Sun. This counter-intuitive efficiency gain at LILT conditions is a key advantage for deep space mission planners. Fully qualified under AIAA-S111-2014. Spectrolab’s LILT cells have heritage on flagship NASA deep space missions including New Horizons, Juno, and the Europa Clipper. Available as bare cells or CIC assemblies.
