About
The Trimble R980 is Trimble’s premium GNSS survey rover, designed to overcome the most challenging GNSS conditions and excel in remote locations with full 4G LTE connectivity and dual-band UHF radio. Like the R12i, it uses Trimble TIP (Tilt Intelligent Positioning) IMU-based tilt compensation and tracks 672 channels across all major constellations (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, QZSS, SBAS). The R980’s dual-band 450/900 MHz UHF radio expands long-range base-rover communication capability and broadens compatibility with VHF/UHF correction broadcast networks. Its 4G LTE modem enables access to VRS networks and CenterPoint RTX internet corrections. Weighing just 1.13 kg, it shares the compact 11.9 × 13.6 cm form factor of the R12i and is fully compatible with the Trimble Geospatial ecosystem: Trimble Access field software, Trimble Business Center office software, and the full suite of RTX correction services including CenterPoint RTX and xFill.
