About
The PST3S-K4 is a micro-miniature star tracker featuring a deployable baffle for stray-light suppression, designed for space-saving installation on small satellites. It uses a refractive lens optical design and offers low power consumption of 0.9W. The unit is radiation resistant, tolerating 30 Krad [Si] total dose. With the baffle folded, the sensor+baffle assembly measures 40×40×34.6mm³, expanding to 40×40×75.7mm³ with the baffle deployed, and has a mass of 60g. It has an effective field of view of 14°×15.8° and provides pointing/rolling attitude accuracy of <5″/<50″ (3σ). The update rate is 10 Hz, with dynamic performance up to 2°/s and sensitivity of 5.8Mv (Go.Ref star). Exclusion angles are <35° from the Sun and <30° from the Earth. It communicates via RS422/CAN data interface, operates on a 5V input voltage, and functions across a working temperature range of -40 to 40°C. Vibration tolerance is sine 13g/random 12 grms (flight model) and sine 16g/random 18 grms (qualification). The rated life time is 5 years.
