About
The Universal Upper Stage “Fregat” is an advanced upper stage designed for integration as the third stage of launch vehicles. Its primary purpose is to inject satellites into a wide range of orbits. The Fregat upper stage boasts significant flight qualification, with a history that includes the original “Fregat”, “Fregat-MT”, and “Fregat-SB” variants. The design allows for adaptation to specific customer requirements. The use of additional fuel tanks and a droppable block of tanks in the “Fregat-MT” and “Fregat-SB” versions has substantially increased refueling mass, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the upper stage. It utilizes AT (nitrogen tetroxide) as an oxidizer and UDMH (unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine) as fuel. The main propulsion system (MDU) offers two modes, BT and MT, with specified thrust and specific impulse values. The MDU is capable of up to 7 inclusions (restarts) during a mission.
