About

The RIXSCam Mini is a high-precision X-ray detector designed for RIXS experiments at synchrotron facilities. It delivers single-photon detection with micron-level spatial resolution, combining ultra-low read noise (~1 e- RMS with EM gain) with advanced centroiding algorithms for super-resolution imaging in the 250–3000 eV soft X-ray energy range.

Unlike the larger multi-detector RIXSCam, the Mini employs a fixed-angle Peltier cooling system rather than cryogenic liquid cooling, simplifying installation and operation at beamlines where space or infrastructure is limited. Temperature is regulated between -70 and -40 deg C to minimise dark current and thermal noise, enabling long exposures required for low-flux X-ray spectroscopy experiments.

The system is fully UHV-compatible to 10e-9 mbar and achieves post-processed spatial resolution below 5 um. With an active area of 26.11 x 25.73 mm and 1632 x 1608 pixels, it provides a compact yet high-performance single-detector alternative suited to instruments where full multi-detector configurations are not required.
