Major Tom (Operations as a Service)

Major Tom is Xplore’s proprietary, cloud-accessible satellite operations software, offered as Operations as a Service. It provides a unified dashboard for managing constellations, individual satellites, virtual satellites, flatsats, and engineering models, supporting manual and scripted/automated commanding of payloads, subsystems, or the satellite bus.

The platform includes real-time and historical telemetry visualization, visual orbital propagation for multi-satellite and multi-mission tracking, and two-way file transfer for software updates and payload data management. It is also used in pre-launch testing environments for satellite development teams.

Major Tom is built for regulatory compliance (ITAR and international requirements) and includes two-factor authentication, HTTPS, and single sign-on, with a stated 99.9% uptime across multiple availability zones. A REST API and webhook support enable integration with third-party tools, and the software has also been referenced by Xplore in government contract announcements (e.g., the 2023 NRO hyperspectral evaluation) as part of its end-to-end mission operations stack.
