About

XCRAFT is Xplore’s core spacecraft bus, engineered as a high-performance, high-reliability ESPA-class platform. It is designed to support a range of mission types including low Earth orbit, cislunar space, and deep space destinations such as Venus, Mars, and asteroids.

The platform is built to host a wide variety of customer payloads, from 1U up to 50U or larger, and is combined with Xplore’s Compute as a Service edge-processing capability, allowing customer software payloads to run in containers on a Linux/ARM on-board environment. XCRAFT has been described by the company as functionally equivalent to “8 satellites in 1” due to its multi-sensor, multi-mission design intent.

Development of the XCRAFT platform was accelerated through a $2 million contract from the National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC) program in 2021, and the platform forms the basis for mission variants including XLEO (low Earth orbit) and the Xplore Space Telescope (XST) family.
