About
The CubeSat 6U Lunar is a small deep-space spacecraft developed by Yuzhnoye SDO designed to be injected into circumlunar orbit as a piggyback payload on a scheduled lunar mission. It accommodates up to 2U of scientific payload to accomplish mission-oriented tasks including imager, polarimeter, or radiometer instruments for lunar science. Weighing no more than 14 kg, the satellite generates 60 to 65 W average electrical power (up to 130 W peak) from deployable solar arrays. The attitude control system achieves 0.5 degree angular accuracy and 0.005 degrees per second angular stabilization, sufficient for precision pointing of compact scientific instruments in the harsh cislunar radiation environment. With a 1-year active lifetime, the 6U platform provides a cost-effective and rapid-development entry point for lunar science missions.
