Cyclone-5
The Cyclone-5 is a three-stage medium-lift class monoblock launch vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO for placing spacecraft into low, medium, and high Earth orbits including geostationary transfer orbit. Derived from Cyclone-4M with an enhanced LOX/kerosene second stage for improved payload capabilities to higher-altitude orbits, it stands 51 meters tall with a 3.9-meter diameter. About
The Cyclone-5 is a three-stage medium-lift class monoblock launch vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO for placing spacecraft into low, medium, and high Earth orbits including geostationary transfer orbit. Derived from Cyclone-4M with an enhanced LOX/kerosene second stage for improved payload capabilities to higher-altitude orbits, it stands 51 meters tall with a 3.9-meter diameter. Two modifications are planned: an expendable version and one with a reusable Stage 1. The first stage employs four RD870 engines on LOX/kerosene, the second stage uses the RD872 LOX/kerosene engine, and the third stage uses the RD861K on nitrogen tetroxide and UDMH. Structural components use aluminum alloys, while the fairing, bottom protection, and payload adapter employ three-layer composite materials. All stages have completed comprehensive ground development testing.
