The Heavy Lunar Lander is a large-payload lunar surface delivery vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO, designed to deliver up to 10 tonnes of useful payload to the lunar surface. This immense payload capacity enables delivery of lunar base pressure vessel modules, large scientific laboratories, and manned exploration vehicles to support sustained human presence on the Moon. The heavy lander forms a key element of Yuzhnoye’s integrated lunar exploration architecture alongside the Mayak-SH5 and Mayak-SH7 super-heavy launch vehicles, the Lunar Booster Stage for trans-lunar injection, and the Circumlunar Booster Tug for lunar orbit insertion. Together these elements provide a complete transportation stack for delivering heavy infrastructure to the lunar surface for human colonization.
