The Mayak-SH-3 is a super heavy-lift class two-stage launch vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO, capable of placing 59.3 tonnes into low Earth orbit and 18.7 tonnes on a lunar trajectory with a booster stage. It employs a modular architecture with six RD815 booster engines plus three additional RD815 engines on the first stage core, all burning liquid oxygen and kerosene propellants. The second stage uses the RD872 engine. Designed to address large payload delivery requirements for Earth orbit and lunar trajectory missions, the Mayak-SH-3 builds on proven Ukrainian rocket heritage from the Zenit, Cyclone, and Antares programs, enabling use of existing or already-developed engines and units to minimize development costs and time to first flight.
