The Mayak-SH-5 is a super heavy-lift class two-stage launch vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO, capable of placing 93.2 tonnes into low Earth orbit and 30.5 tonnes on a lunar trajectory when paired with a booster. It employs twelve RD815 booster engines plus three core first-stage engines, all burning liquid oxygen and kerosene. The second stage uses the RD872 engine. With a fairing diameter of 6.2 meters and a gross mass of approximately 2,246 tonnes (without payload), it represents one of the largest rockets in the Mayak family. Its design philosophy maximizes reuse of heritage components and manufacturing expertise from the Zenit and Cyclone programs. Two configurations are envisioned: expendable and with a recoverable first stage.
