The YuzhSat-1 is a 38.4 kg microsatellite developed by Yuzhnoye SDO carrying the Aerosol-UA scientific payload for global monitoring of atmospheric aerosol characteristics and distribution to enhance climate model accuracy and advance understanding of Earth’s radiation budget. Operating in a circular sun-synchronous orbit at approximately 705 km altitude with 98.1 degrees inclination, its two-instrument payload includes the Scanning Photometer-Polarimeter (ScanPol) operating at six spectral bands from 370 to 1610 nm with approximately 6 km nadir resolution and the Multispectral Imager-Polarimeter (MSIP) providing 500 m pixel size and approximately 3 km spatial resolution over a 60 by 60 degree field of view. Three-axis active attitude control with magnetorquers and reaction wheels achieves 0.2 degree orientation accuracy over a 2-year design life.
