About SITAEL S.p.A.

SITAEL S.p.A. is Italy's largest privately-owned aerospace company, part of the Angel Group (formerly Angelo Investments), an Italian industrial holding of high-tech companies spanning aerospace, railway, digital, and mechatronic sectors. SITAEL's corporate roots trace to 1994, when CAEN Aerospace and Aurelia Microelettronica were spun off from CAEN; through a series of mergers — CAEN Aurelia Space (2009), renamed SITAEL Aerospace (2010) after acquisition by Angel Holding, then merged with MEL System (December 2011) — the modern SITAEL S.p.A. was formed. A further merger with Alta and ALMASpace in December 2014 cemented its position as Italy's largest privately-owned space company.

SITAEL is vertically integrated across the small-satellite lifecycle, in compliance with ECSS standards, covering mission analysis and operations, electric propulsion subsystems, and space-qualified electronic equipment. Its Satellite Factory (a 1,200 m² facility in Mola di Bari) and Electric Propulsion Factory support development, qualification, production, and delivery of satellites, subsystems, and constellation components. The company offers turn-key Smart Microsatellite Solutions spanning Earth Observation, small telecom/IoT constellations, in-orbit demonstration/validation (IOD/IOV), and science missions.

SITAEL is a recognized leader in electric propulsion, producing a full range of Hall Effect Thrusters from around 100W up to tens of kW, alongside Power and Processing Units, high-voltage power supplies, and magneto-plasma-dynamic thrusters for deep-space exploration. Its Electronics Equipment division designs radiation-hardened microelectronics, ASICs, and space-grade power/drive/control and data-handling systems. The company operates 15 vacuum/thermal-vacuum/ultra-high-vacuum test chambers and full EMC test facilities, with international offices in Greece and Australia, led by CEO Chiara Pertosa.
