About
The Emergency Locator Transmitter is designed to determine and transmit position data of a place of distress, enabling search and rescue forces to home in on the location. It provides people in distress and rescue teams with simplex voice communication, and can determine and display position data on a built-in liquid crystal indicator in ‘Navigation’ mode. The unit includes a GLONASS/GPS receiver with antenna, transmitters operating on 406.037 MHz and 121.5 MHz, a voice communication device (121.5 MHz radio station), an AНT-AРM-2 antenna, a liquid crystal indicator for displaying position data and service information with backlight, a self-contained power source (battery/accumulator), and a tight protective box. It transmits on the emergency frequency 406.037 MHz (emitting power 5.0 W) and on the rescue homing/simplex voice frequency 121.5 MHz (emitting power >30 mW). The device operates across a temperature range of -40 to +55 °C, weighs 530 g, and measures 55x79x175 mm. It was first released in 2009, has an estimated production/delivery time of 6 months, is not flight-qualified, and can be adapted to customer requirements.
