About
The Honeywell HMR2300 is a three-axis smart digital magnetometer designed to detect the strength and direction of magnetic fields. It uses three orthogonally oriented magnetoresistive sensors to measure X, Y, and Z vector components, converting the outputs to 16-bit digital values via an internal delta-sigma A/D converter. An onboard EEPROM stores configuration settings for consistent operation. Data is transmitted via full-duplex RS-232 or half-duplex RS-485 communication at selectable 9600 or 19,200 baud rates. Stated applications include attitude reference, compassing and navigation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), autonomous vehicles, traffic and anomaly detection, laboratory instrumentation, and security systems. A development kit is available that includes an RS-232 interface, demo software, cable, AC adapter, and carrying case, with the demo program also offered as a free download.
