About
Honeywell’s Momentum Control Systems are designed to provide comprehensive control solutions for spacecraft attitude control. These systems are capable of managing arrays of up to six Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMGs), which can be integrated directly into the array hardware or licensed as a standalone software solution. The core functionality of these controls is to accept a simple torque command from the spacecraft’s main control system. In response, they execute deterministic and singularity-free operations, guaranteeing the availability of the required torque for attitude adjustments. A key feature of these systems is their ability to transparently manage various operational events without compromising control. This includes handling hardware failures within the CMG array, as well as managing spin-up and spin-down events of individual CMGs. This robust management ensures continuous and reliable attitude control for the spacecraft.
