GMDSS Systems — Iridium Certus Maritime Safety
IMO/SOLAS-certified Iridium Certus GMDSS systems with distress alert, safety voice, MSI, LRIT, and SSAS for maritime safety compliance.
About
Intellian’s GMDSS Systems are built on the Iridium Certus LEO platform and certified to IMO and SOLAS standards for global maritime distress and safety communications. The range covers the C200M GMDSS System and C700 GMDSS System, providing full GMDSS functionality via Iridium’s pole-to-pole satellite network — the only network capable of supporting GMDSS obligations in polar waters.
Both systems provide the complete GMDSS service suite: Distress Alert for immediate emergency signaling, Safety Voice for search and rescue coordination, Maritime Safety Information (MSI) reception, Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) reporting, and Ship Security Alert System (SSAS) capabilities. A 7-inch IPS touchscreen Safety Display Terminal with auto-dimming provides crew with an intuitive interface for safety communications.
IMO certification means these systems fulfill SOLAS Chapter IV radio communications requirements, enabling vessels to satisfy their statutory safety obligations using a single Iridium terminal without needing multiple legacy GMDSS technologies (INMARSAT, EPIRB, etc.) depending on area of operation.
The Iridium LEO network’s truly global pole-to-pole coverage ensures GMDSS compliance everywhere — from tropical shipping lanes to Arctic exploration routes — without the geographic limitations of GEO-based GMDSS systems.
