About
The CubeSpace (CS) Magnetometer is a robust 3-axis controlled sensor offered in two form factors: deployable and compact. The deployable version is suitable for satellites with larger magnetic disturbances and includes a backup 3-axis sensor, while the compact version allows for easy integration and added redundancy. Both versions are temperature-calibrated and support in-orbit calibration. Key features include a restorable deployment mechanism with an indicator for the deployable model, an integrated processor to reduce ADCS computer processing demand, and shared electronic design and heritage across the Gen2 product range. The magnetometers are tested in a high-frequency Helmholtz cage for accurate results and are qualified for space environments, with specifications including 14.16 gRMS random vibration, 24 kRad radiation tolerance, and a lifetime of 5+ years. They operate on a 3.3V supply, with peak power consumption of 230 mW and average power of 50 mW (2350 mW for deployment power in the deployable model). Data communication is via CAN/UART/RS-485, with I2C available for custom solutions on compact models.
