About
Micro Aerospace Solutions (MAS) has developed MEMS-based inertial sensor technology into Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) specifically for small satellite attitude detection systems. These IMUs can be integrated with sun sensors, horizon sensors, and other external references, as well as MAS’s thruster systems, to form a complete small satellite attitude detection and control system (ADCS). MAS offers three distinct IMU models: MASIMU01, MASIMU02, and MASIMU03. The MASIMU01 is a low-cost, compact unit that has flight heritage, having flown in space on the University of Texas’ FASTRAC microsatellite for the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). The MASIMU02 improves upon the drift rate of the MASIMU01 while maintaining a slightly larger footprint. The MASIMU03 represents an advanced offering, utilizing innovative data fusion of MEMS inertial sensors in a platform that competes with much larger conventional inertial measurement units. MAS also offers custom design work for hardware, software, and firmware, and provides specific gyro-only and accelerometer-only boards for various applications requiring rotation and tip-off rate sensing.
