The Mass-spectrometer Helium Leak Detector is designed to test the leaktightness of various systems and facilities that allow pumping of the inner cavity or objects filled with helium or a gas mixture containing helium, enabling detection and localisation of leakage sites (leaks). It is a highly sensitive magnetic mass-spectrometer set for registration of the flow of the tracer gas (helium). A leak is determined by the helium flow penetrating into the tested volume during a vacuum test, or by the flow of helium escaping from the tested volume when it is under excessive pressure. The device supports multiple operating modes: ‘direct flow’, ‘counterflow’, and ‘probe’ mode, each with different minimum detectable flow sensitivities. It detects a mass of 4 a.m.u. (helium). The unit reaches ready mode within 5 minutes and has an input response time of 1 second. It was released in 2011, has a guaranteed service life of 10 years, and an estimated production/delivery time of 3 months. The product is not flight-qualified, and it can be adapted to customer requirements.
