About

MDM microwave varactors are uncased, beam-lead components based on thin semiconductor and dielectric membranes, designed to operate at frequencies up to 50 GHz. They are intended for use as part of the receiving and transmitting paths of space systems, specifically within the modules of discrete phase shifters of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) systems used in space-based location and communication systems. The devices offer a range of nominal capacitor values, high breakdown voltage, low dielectric loss tangent, and a very thin capacitor structure combined with extremely low weight, making them suitable for compact, high-frequency microelectronic assemblies. They were released in 2013 and are applicable across aviation, space, radio engineering/electronics/microelectronics, and civil industries.
