About
The Dcubed Micro Pin Puller (uD3PP) is a state-of-the-art Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) based release actuator. Its primary function is to securely lock mission-critical subsystems and sensitive equipment during the demanding launch phase of a spacecraft, and then reliably release them once on orbit. This device is recognized as one of the smallest yet most powerful Hold Down and Release Mechanism (HDRM) solutions available in the market. A significant advantage of the uD3PP is its ease of use and field-resettability, allowing for up to 100 resets in seconds, both from the front and rear. It is readily available as a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) component with short delivery times of 10-12 weeks. Key features include fully redundant actuation, a smart SMA trigger mechanism, and very low shock upon release. The device is constructed from hard anodized Aluminum 7075-T7351 for the body and Stainless Steel 17-4PH for the pin, ensuring durability and performance across a wide temperature range of -35 °C to +75 °C. It also incorporates an actuation sensor and offers customizable interfaces to suit various mission requirements. The product is ITAR Free, simplifying export processes.
