About
The Dcubed Nano Pin Puller (nD3PP) is a compact, linear actuator available in Stainless Steel or Aluminum-Titanium. It utilizes Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) technology to provide a smooth and reliable trigger on orbit, safely releasing sensitive equipment that was locked during launch. It is one of the smallest yet powerful space-qualified Hold Down and Release Mechanism (HDRM) solutions on the market. The nD3PP is easily field-resettable up to 400 times, both from the front and rear, and is readily available as a COTS part with short delivery times (6-8 weeks). Key features include fully redundant actuation, a smart SMA trigger, ultra-low shock operation, and an actuation sensor. It boasts a shear load (release load) of greater than 50 N and a proof load of 85 N push-in load and 1500 N sideload. The device has a compact body size of 17 x 17 x 17 mm and operates within a temperature range of -65°C to +75°C. It is ITAR Free and offers customizable interfaces. The product has a TRL of 9 and space heritage.
