About
Nammo (Nordic Ammunition Group) is a Norwegian-Finnish defence and aerospace company with a major space propulsion capability centered on solid rocket motors (SRMs) for sounding rockets, launch vehicle upper stages, and strategic missile systems. Nammo’s space propulsion group manufactures SRMs at its Raufoss facility in Norway.
The M-10 motor is Nammo’s primary sounding rocket motor, used in the two-stage AND/ø-Ø Sounding Rocket (with Canadian Meteorological Rockets Association and other partners) reaching altitudes up to 200 km. Nammo also manufactures the apogee kick motor for the PRISMA technology demonstration satellite and provides solid booster segments for ESA’s Vega launch vehicle program.
For ESA’s future space programs, Nammo has partnered with ArianeGroup to develop the P120C solid rocket booster, which serves as the first stage of Vega-C and as strap-on boosters for Ariane 6. Nammo’s expertise spans both energetic materials formulation and motor case manufacturing using advanced composites. The company also develops hybrid rocket engines for the upcoming NUCLEUS sounding rocket and European micro launcher programs.
