About
SmartLEO is OHB System AG’s low-Earth-orbit satellite bus, designed for a wide range of remote sensing, reconnaissance, and science missions in sun-synchronous and other low-altitude orbits. The platform has been proven on two major operational programmes: the SAR-Lupe radar reconnaissance constellation (5 satellites, ~770 kg each, 470–505 km SSO) and the EnMAP hyperspectral Earth observation satellite (~936 kg, 638–651 km SSO).
SmartLEO features flexible mechanical and electrical interfaces allowing it to accommodate large synthetic aperture radar antennas and high-resolution optical spectrometers. Its modular architecture enables rapid adaptation to mission-specific requirements from science agencies, defence customers, and commercial operators.
