About
The ST 6000 is a satellite IoT communications device built by ORBCOMM (SkyWave) for OEMs and hardware integrators who need versatility, performance and reliability in remote monitoring solutions. It removes complexity from IoT engineering, being easy to program thanks to its Lua scripting engine, graphical user interface development tools, and device-level terminal apps. The unit features integrated antennas with enhanced low elevation angle performance, improving coverage for both terrestrial and maritime applications. Its small footprint and extensive development tools allow it to be easily integrated into larger systems. OEMs can plug the ST 6000 into a custom enclosure to address unique applications such as buoy monitoring and cathodic protection, among others. A cited use case describes ORBCOMM technology being used to build and deploy a solution for Teck that helped reduce speeding alerts by 85% and completely eliminate harsh braking alerts.
