About
FOREST (Fire Observing Remote-Sensing EO Satellite) is OroraTech’s dedicated thermal imaging CubeSat series for wildfire monitoring. Each satellite carries a long-wave infrared (LWIR) thermal camera imaging at approximately 100 m ground sample distance, optimized for detecting heat anomalies associated with wildfire ignition and spread. Operating in a 1:00 local solar time sun-synchronous orbit provides nighttime thermal sensitivity when radiative cooling reduces background temperature. Multiple FOREST satellites have been launched, and OroraTech is expanding the constellation to achieve global near-real-time coverage.
