About

The Personal Radio Beacon is a self-contained emergency distress and rescue device designed to determine and transmit the position of a place of distress, enabling rescue forces to home in on that location. It also provides people in distress and search-and-rescue forces with voice simplex radio communication. The beacon works through space navigation systems (SNS) such as GLONASS/GPS. It comprises a GLONASS/GPS receiver with an antenna, a ПРД-406 transmitter operating on 406.037 MHz, a ПРД-121 transceiver operating on 121.5 MHz, an AНT-AРМ-02 transmitting-receiving antenna, an indicator for displaying position and service data, a self-contained power supply, a rechargeable battery, and a charger. The device can optionally be completed with a hermetic and shockproof box for storage and carrying. It has an operating temperature range of -40 to +55°C, weighs 530 g, and has dimensions of 55x79x175 mm. The emitting power is 5.0 W on the 406.037 MHz frequency and greater than 30 mW on the 121.5 MHz frequency. The product was first released in 2007, has an estimated production/delivery time of 6 months, is not flight-qualified, and can be adapted to customer requirements.
