About
The Mark II Motorized Lightband (MLB) is Planetary Systems Corporation’s flagship space vehicle separation system, used to separate spacecraft from launch vehicles and to separate launch vehicle stages. It is constructed of aluminum alloys, with a lower ring featuring hinged leaves and springs and a dual-redundant release motor, and an upper ring providing a load-bearing hinge interface. The system is non-pyrotechnic but pyro-pulse compatible, and can be configured to meet ISS redundancy requirements. It is offered across bolt-circle diameters from 8 to 38.8 inches and supports payloads up to 1,200 lb. The MLB has flown on more than 100 on-orbit separations with a 100% mission success record.
