The MarsRanger (PF-MARSRANGER) is Pulsar Fusion’s highest-power Hall-effect thruster, designed for GEO telecommunications satellite station-keeping and inclination control, deep-space mission propulsion, and large constellation management. At 5 kW partial-power testing, the MarsRanger demonstrated 175 mN thrust at greater than 1,875 s specific impulse and 31.4% anode efficiency (below the design operating voltage of 300–500 V), indicating substantially higher performance at full design power. The thruster uses a magnetically shielded design rated for more than 20,000 operating hours — compatible with multi-year GEO missions. Krypton propellant is the primary design fuel. Pulsar Fusion is based in Bletchley, UK, and produces the LeoBear 500 W, MoonRanger 5 kW, and MarsRanger 10 kW HET family alongside the Sunbird nuclear fusion drive as a long-range development programme.
