The Hanwha Systems Small SAR Satellite System represents the company’s entry into the New Space commercial constellation paradigm. The system features electronic beam steering at a global top-tier performance level, achieving 1-meter-level ground resolution over wide coverage areas with short revisit cycles enabling near-real-time monitoring under all weather conditions.
The design uses an integrated antenna-main unit structure that reduces mass and simplifies electrical interfaces compared to traditional architectures, enabling shorter development cycles and lower unit cost suitable for constellation deployment. The Engineering and Qualification Model (EQM) is being developed under Korea’s Future Technology Challenge Initiative Program, drawing on Hanwha Systems’ decades of AESA radar expertise applied to the satellite domain.
