About

The Solar Panels Hold-down Lock (mechanical) holds solar panels in the stowed position during launch and transit. It provides 2500 kg clamping force and resists 530 N·m bending moment at the spacecraft interface, accommodating solar panel stacking widths of 60–250 mm. The lock operates across -100 to +100 °C and is rated for at least 50 actuations. Mass is 0.8 kg. Released in 2007 with a 15-year guaranteed service life and 4-month delivery time. Extensive flight heritage including Amos-5, Yamal-300K/401, Express-AT1/AT2/AM5/AM6/AM8, KazSat-3, Loutch-5V, Elektro-L, Spektr-R.
