Solar arrays are critical components of spacecraft power systems, providing the energy needed for propulsion, communications, and mission operations. For DeepSpace-2, the solar array design utilizes carbon composite honeycomb core sandwich panels to optimize power generation and minimize overall weight. Each solar array wing consists of 3 panels connected by hinges, allowing for stowage and deployment while conforming to launch vehicle inclusion volumes.
