About

The Lunar Habitat and Infrastructure programme at TechTheMoon focuses on the design and construction of the first lunar base camp capable of supporting long-duration human habitation in a frugal, local, and circular manner. The programme spans habitation structures, life support consumables, food production, and surface mobility.

Key portfolio companies include Spartan Space, which develops the EuroHab/ILOT — the first inflatable lunar habitat designed as a lunar lander payload, offering greater habitable volume per unit mass than rigid alternatives, and featuring an integrated mobility function to allow the habitat to relocate on the lunar surface. Orius develops plant production technologies in controlled environments (phytotrons) for space applications and accelerated crop science. Neopouss develops dehydrated super-food microgreens that preserve 100% of plant nutrients, ideal for compact lunar food supply chains.

The programme addresses the extreme environmental constraints of the lunar surface: gravity one-sixth of Earth’s, no atmosphere, pervasive abrasive regolith dust, temperature swings from +120°C to -230°C, and radiation levels 200x higher than Earth. Solutions developed under this programme must function autonomously for extended periods, with minimal resupply from Earth (3 days’ travel time).

Startups benefit from co-location with the Spaceship France facility at the Centre Spatial de Toulouse, which serves as a dedicated lunar base technology demonstration laboratory under the Artemis programme framework.
