About
The CB503 is a digitally tunable high-Q bandpass filter from Teledyne Defence & Space, designed to replace multiple fixed filters with a single tunable solution spanning approximately one octave of frequency coverage. The filter operates across VHF/UHF frequency bands and can be tuned to any central frequency in the range of 160 MHz to 360 MHz while maintaining excellent filter characteristics including high Q factor and low insertion loss. The core is a high-Q three-section machine combline filter structure. It addresses spectrum management challenges in tactical communications environments where high power communication systems and IED jammer transmitters can severely limit radio communications. By providing one tunable unit instead of multiple fixed-frequency filters, the CB503 reduces logistical burden and training requirements for deployed military and defence users, and is applicable in space and satellite ground station applications for flexible frequency plan management.
