5G New Radio for Non-Terrestrial Networks (5G NR NTN)

Gatehouse Satcom’s 5G New Radio for Non-Terrestrial Networks product delivers the physical layer (PHY) software and control of the NodeB executing on an SDR hardware platform, conforming to 3GPP Release 17 to support NTN services. The PHY module manages the radio channels used for communication between user equipment and the mobile network, assigning dedicated radio channels for data exchange between devices and the core network. It is designed to be extended to support regenerative mode running on a COTS satellite payload as this becomes formalized in later 3GPP releases. The software is flexible enough to be deployed as a standalone component within a customer’s own solution, or integrated with other suppliers as part of a complete 5G NR NTN offering through Gatehouse Satcom’s partner network. As an active 3GPP and ETSI member, Gatehouse Satcom contributes directly to 5G NR NTN standardization, giving the product a strong alignment with evolving global standards for direct-to-device satellite connectivity.
