Gatehouse Satcom

Gatehouse Satcom is a Danish embedded software company specializing in satellite communications protocol stacks, waveforms and test tools for terminals, satellites and core network infrastructure. Established in 1992, the company began by developing communications systems for ports before applying the same VHF communications principles to satellite systems, becoming a leading supplier of satcom terminal software for the Inmarsat BGAN system for aeronautical, maritime and land terminal manufacturers from the early 2000s onward.

Over more than two decades, Gatehouse Satcom has been involved in the development, deployment and maintenance of more than 15 waveforms for satellite communications systems, including work with BGAN, DVB, DAMA and GMR standards. The company maintains a long-term partnership with Viasat and supplied the complete BGAN Protocol Stack, including UMTS NAS, as a reference implementation used to validate Viasat MTR scripts and associated type-approval equipment.

In recent years Gatehouse Satcom has expanded into standardized software for 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks (5G NTN), serving programs from early feasibility assessment through operational deployment. As an active member of 3GPP, the company contributes to 5G NTN standardization processes and participates in ETSI and 3GPP working groups. Gatehouse Satcom is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and with roughly 75 percent of its staff being engineers, engineering remains at the core of its business.
