About

Aurora 1000 is Comospace’s first-generation satellite-borne intelligent computing payload, launched in 2022 with a domestically produced high-performance AI chip (reported by industry press to be Cambricon NPU-based, delivering roughly 32 TOPS of INT8 compute). It was the team’s initial proof that AI inference hardware could be reliably operated in the space radiation environment.

A follow-on variant, Aurora 1000-3, was developed in 2023 and used in a three-satellite on-orbit cooperative computing experiment, an early exploration of multi-node in-orbit distributed computing architecture.

As of 2026 the Aurora 1000 series has accumulated more than 1,000 days of stable on-orbit operation across multiple satellites, per company statements to industry press.
