About

The EBAD TiNi™ ejector, also known as the microlatch and ejector release mechanism (ERM), is designed to support and release spacecraft deployables. It can accommodate attaching screws from 4-40 to 3/8”-24 thread size, generating a preload from 50 lbF (222 N) to 4000 lbF (17800 N). Key attributes include its non-pyrotechnic nature, field-resettable capability, and redundant firing circuits. As with all EBAD and EBAD TiNi™ products, the ERM is non-pyrotechnic and field-resettable with a minimum qualified life of 50 cycles. The Micro Latch, also non-pyrotechnic and field-resettable, has a minimum qualified life of 100 cycles. The ERM can be reset within seconds using a simple tool, while the Micro Latch is reset by pushing the Coupler Nut back onto the actuator body. All TiNi™ ERMs can be actuated with a standard pyro pulse of 25 milliseconds or less. The EBAD Micro Latch performs in the millisecond timeframe by directly passing current through its SMA element, making it suitable for instantaneous release applications. The Micro Latch is designed to operate from a 12Vdc bus voltage, commonly found in CubeSat deployments, with resistance adjustable for other voltages. Both the ERM and Micro Latch incorporate simple Auto Shut-Off Switches to protect their TiNi™ Triggers, enhancing user-friendliness and allowing operation from a wide range of currents and voltages.
